Principal Geochemist in Calgary, AB, Edmonton, AB or Vancouver, BC
Adecco’s client is seeking an experienced Principal Geochemist with a background in mining to oversee their geochemistry department. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading geochemical analysis, interpretation, and application of findings to optimize mineral exploration, extraction, and environmental impact assessment. The Principal Geochemist will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the integration of geochemical data into mining operations and environmental management strategies.
Principal Geochemist Responsibilities Are:
Lead and manage the geochemistry department, including staff supervision, resource allocation, and project oversight.
Design and implement geochemical sampling programs to support mineral exploration, resource evaluation, and mine development.
Conduct geochemical analyses of rock, soil, water, and other geological materials using state-of-the-art laboratory techniques and equipment.
Interpret geochemical data to identify mineralization patterns, geochemical anomalies, and potential ore deposits.
Collaborate with geologists, engineers, and environmental specialists to integrate geochemical data into geological models, mine planning, and environmental impact assessments.
Develop geochemical models and predictive tools to optimize mineral exploration targeting and resource estimation.
Provide technical guidance on geochemical aspects of mine planning, ore processing, and waste management to enhance efficiency and minimize environmental impact.
Stay abreast of emerging geochemical technologies, methodologies, and industry best practices to ensure continuous improvement and innovation.
Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and external partners to convey geochemical findings, project progress, and compliance with regulations.
Principal Geochemist Qualifications Are:
Bachelors, Master's or Ph.D. in Geochemistry, Geology, or related field with a focus on mining.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in geochemical analysis and interpretation within the mining industry.
Demonstrated expertise in conducting geochemical investigations, including sampling design, laboratory techniques, and data analysis.
Proficiency in geochemical modeling software and statistical analysis tools.
Strong understanding of mineralogy, petrology, and ore deposit genesis.
Experience with geochemical aspects of mine planning, mineral processing, and environmental management.
Excellent leadership and project management skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical conduct in mining operations.
Membership in relevant professional organizations and certifications are desirable.
