Adecco is currently recruiting for a Datacentre Operations Specialist for a 1-year ON-SITE contract. This role is in Calgary with some visits to Kamloops Datacentre. The successful candidate must be eligible for a valid Secret Security Clearance.
The Datacentre Operations Specialist will have the following responsibilities:

  • Deploy and install hardware into the client’s two local datacenters in the National Capital Region;

  • Coordinate with Service Providers for non-local datacenters;

  • Under the direction of the Senior resources, troubleshoot hardware installation issues;

  • Respond to project and operation demands received via the Client’s trouble ticketing tool;

  • Deploy network cabling (copper and fiber);

  • Maintain detailed documentation of all deployed IT assets and of the DCIM tool;

  • Replace failed hardware components on systems (i.e., RAM, Hard Drives, cables, power supply, PDU’s, etc.);

  • Coordinate Return Merchandise Authorizations with manufacturers;

  • Validate completed onsite third-party support work against the agreed-upon scope, reporting any variances or concerns to their manager;

  • Ability to travel to Client’s remote sites periodically;

  • Participate in On-Call of Canada rotation for the Data Centre Services team;

  • Overtime support when required;

  • Other activities and deliverables, as required.

The Datacentre Operations Specialist must meet the following mandatory requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience in installation and power-up (Rack & Stack) of servers, peripherals, and network equipment;

  • Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience and exposure in IT Operations work including, the operational capabilities and typical challenges of data center operations;

  • Must have demonstrated experience of cabling infrastructure, as well as, maintaining documentation of newly installed infrastructure devices;

  • Must have demonstrated understanding of data center facilities infrastructure, such as HVAC, service, entrances, UPS, etc.

  • Must have demonstrated ability to coordinate onsite support of third-party contractors performing infrastructure projects, preventative maintenance, or testing;

  • English essential, French will be considered an asset.
